The combination of immobility, muscle weakness, skeletal deformity, and swallowing impairment, are leading causes of respiratory deterioration in patients with leukodystrophies. This paper summarizes available literature and expert opinion regarding respiratory health and preventative care relevant to patients with leukodystrophies.
