Thank you for visiting Hunter’s Hope Foundation.  My hope and prayer is that what you learn on this site will ignite a passion in your heart, a passion so great that you will not rest until every child born in the United States is screened for the most diseases possible, ensuring every newborn in every state has a fair start at life. 

Did you know that a simple heel prick through a newborn screening test could have saved my grandson, Hunter’s life?  Well, it’s true. 

Did you know that each year in the United States thousands of children die and many more thousands become permanently disabled because their parents and doctors did not know they had one of over 55 treatable diseases.  These diseases can be identified through the existing Newborn Screening Program - one heel prick in the hospital after birth.  Many states do not screen for all of these diseases, but they could.  This knowledge can save children’s lives.

www.huntershope.org/UNBS/index.html.  They can get supplemental newborn screening and ensure their newborn is screened for all possible diseases.

Find out the number of diseases screened for in your state’s Newborn Screening program by clicking on the “IN-DEPTH INFO” tab above and select “Diseases My State Screens For”.  If your state is not screening for all possible diseases (55), write and call your state legislatures and tell them that the children in your state need their help.

You can change the life of a child by taking action now!  Please do what ever you can so that no more children will have to suffer and die needlessly like my precious little Hunter did.
